Recycling and Solid Waste Center
The Recycling and Solid Waste Center (RSWC) only accepts waste from Tompkins County residents, businesses, and licensed haulers who have a valid Tompkins County Department of Recycling and Materials Management Permit or Hauler's License.
Permits and Fees
Permits may be purchased only by Tompkins County residents and businesses to dispose of all garbage and certain recyclables at the Tompkins County Recycling and Solid Waste Center (RSWC).
All trash set out for collection in Tompkins County must have a trash tag affixed to the bag or can.
Tompkins County businesses and residents have the option to hire a licensed hauler to remove trash from their property.
Illegally dumped trash may contain hazardous material, which poses a threat to public, livestock and environmental health. Illegal dumping also costs money to prosecute and clean up.
