Thanksgiving Holiday Closings

The Tompkins County Department of Recycling and Materials Management office will be closed on Thursday, November 28^th and Friday, November 29^th for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Recycling and Solid Waste Center is closed on Thursday, November 28^th, and will reopen during business hours on Friday, November 29^th.

The Newfield Food Scraps Drop Spot will be closed on Thursday, November 28th. Weekend Drop Spots will be open regular hours.

There will be no curbside recycling collection on Thursday, Nov. 28^th. Curbside recycling collection will take place a day late for the remainder of the holiday week. That means if your regularly scheduled collection day is Thursday, recycling will be picked up on Friday, and so on.

2024 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

The mission of the Department of Recycling and Materials Management is to develop and implement a sustainable materials management strategy for Tompkins County. With a focus on the state’s solid waste management hierarchy, this approach utilizes and prioritizes environmentally sound, cost-effective, socially responsible, and safe practices. This is accomplished through coordinated administrative, operational, and educational programs that maximize diversion with the 4R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rethink) as a focal point.
