Food scraps drop spots cancelled Wednesday due to Air Quality Alert

(Tompkins County, June 7, 2023) – The food scraps recycling drop spots at the East Hill Farmers’ Market, Trumansburg Farmers’ Market, and Hancock St. in Ithaca are cancelled for Wednesday, June 7, 2023, due to the hazardous Air Quality Health Alert in place for Tompkins and surrounding counties.

The alert, issued by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), is in effect through Wednesday, June 7, 2023 (ending at midnight, 12:00AM Thursday, June 8, 2023).

Participants are reminded that drop spots may be cancelled due to hazardous weather conditions. Cancellations are rare, but sometimes necessary for the safety of attendants and participants, and will be posted to the front page gallery of www.RecycleTompkins.org at least one hour prior to the scheduled opening. Participants are encouraged to check the website for cancellations before travelling to a drop spot.
