  • Casella collects residential curbside recycling in all County municipalities under a contract with Tompkins County. Casella also operates the Recycling and Solid Waste Center under a contract with the County, and is one of several licensed haulers providing garbage pick-up in Tompkins County.

  • Cayuga Compost  is a division of P&S Excavating, and is proud to provide a food waste collection and composting service to local businesses to divert their food scraps from the waste stream and turn it into high quality compost. Cayuga Compost has a contract with Tompkins County to process organic materials.
  • Challenge Workforce Solutions is a local, non-profit, vocational organization that empowers people with a variety of disabilities and other barriers to employment to find opportunities in the workplace. Services include: office paper shredding and product packaging.
  • Clean Harbors has been a trusted source for environmental, energy and industrial services since 1980. The company manages the Household Hazardous Waste that is dropped off at the Recycling and Solid Waste Center throughout the year.
  • Community Coalition for Healthy Youth is a coalition that represents agencies, schools, government, businesses, families, and concerned citizens in Tompkins County, working to reduce substance abuse among middle and high school youth through the use of effective, evidence-based programs and practices.
  • Cornell University is a premier hub for sustainability, advancing research and cultivating collaboration.
  • Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County puts a wealth of useful, research-based information at your finger tips! They offer free or low-cost workshops on topics that range from how to start an organic garden to making a home spending plan.
  • The Compost Education Program supports the goals of the Tompkins County Department of Recycling and Materials Management to divert compostable materials from the waste stream and thereby maximize waste reduction in the County. This mission is achieved by training and supporting community volunteers to educate and enthuse the public about the benefits and methods of composting.
  • Finger Lakes Reuse operates a community-oriented warehouse, shopping, and educational center where the maximum reuse of materials is a priority. In 1995, Tompkins County made a commitment to develop a ReUse Center as part of its 20-Year Solid Waste Management Plan. Finger Lakes ReUse includes the ReUse Center, a Deconstruction Program (green alternative to demolition) and the eCenter (computer refurbishment program).
  • Flourish Design Studio, located in Ithaca, NY, is a graphic design studio specializing in logo, website, brochure, stationery design.
  • Get Your Greenback Tompkins is a community-based campaign to inspire all 42,000 households and every business in Tompkins County to take at least one step to save energy and money in the areas of food, waste, transportation and heating and lighting.
  • Go Green Initiative provides schools, homes, businesses and organizations of all kinds with the tools and training they need to create a “culture of conservation” within their community.
  • Ithaca College‘s campus sustainability initiative has three, highly inter-related aspects – curriculum and research, campus operations and community outreach.
  • National Recycling Coalition is a non-profit organization focused on promoting and enhancing recycling in the United States. The organization has a network of more than 6,000 members which extends across waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting
  • Natural Upcycling is a New York State food waste hauler.
  • New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling provides statewide leadership on waste reduction, reuse and recycling issues and practices to improve the environment.

  • New York State Pollution Prevention Intitute (P2I) The vision for NYSP2I is to foster the transformation and development of sustainable businesses and organizations in New York State in a collaborative program committed to making the State a leader in environmental stewardship.
  • Sciencenter in Ithaca, NY inspires excitement for science through interactive exhibits and programs that engage educate and empower. The hands-on museum offers visitors of all ages more than 250 exhibits, educational programs, an outdoor science park and a seasonal miniature golf course. The “Reinvention Station” taps into your creative side as you transform recyclable materials into works of art.
  • Ithaca Streets and Facilities provides trash and yard waste collection for residents within the city limits. This group issues violation notices for improperly placed or tagged trash, as well as improperly placed yard waste and recycling. Illegal dumping issues are noted by this group and reported to the Ithaca Police Department.
  • Sustainable Tompkins is a citizen-based organization working towards the long-term well-being of our communities by integrating social equity, economic vitality, ecological stewardship, and shared responsibility.

  • Tompkins County Climate Protection Initiative (TCCPI) is an award-winning, multi-sector collaboration seeking to leverage the climate action commitments made by Cornell University, Ithaca College, Tompkins Cortland Community College, Tompkins County, the City of Ithaca, and the towns of Caroline, Dryden, and Ithaca to mobilize a countywide energy efficiency effort and accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy.
