Free Holiday Tree Drop-off at Recycling and Solid Waste Center

For immediate release:

December 30th, 2021

This year, holiday trees and wreathes will be accepted free of charge (and with no permit required) at the Recycling and Solid Waste Center’s yard waste drop-off area. The free drop-off will continue through January of 2022.

Trees, wreathes, and other yard waste collected at the Recycling and Solid Waste Center is transferred to Cayuga Compost in Trumansburg for processing into a nutrient rich soil amendment. Please remove any lights, tinsel, ornaments, and other decorations before bringing your trees and wreathes to the Recycling and Solid Waste Center.

Many municipalities in Tompkins County also offer free curbside collection or drop-off of holiday trees, so check with your City, Town, or Village for the most convenient option.
