May 5th – 11th is International Compost Awareness Week

International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW), organized by the Composting Council Research and Education Foundation (CCREF), is the largest education initiative of the composting industry. The goal of the initiative is to raise public awareness regarding the benefits of using compost to improve or maintain high quality soil, to grow healthy plants, reduce the use of fertilizer and pesticides, improve water quality and protect the environment. This year’s poster and theme is “Cool the Climate-Compost!”.

To celebrate Compost Awareness Week, TCRMM will have a presence at various Farmers Markets in Tompkins County.
