Rethinking Waste in Tompkins County Draft Plan

Tompkins County has prepared a Draft Local Solid Waste Management Plan (LSWMP), Rethinking Waste in Tompkins County: Fostering a Local Circular Economy. This plan identifies the path to be pursued for managing materials generated in Tompkins County during a ten-year planning period in an economical and environmentally sound manner that is consistent with the State’s solid waste management policy.

Tompkins County will hold a public meeting on July 11, 2023, at 5:30 pm at the BorgWarner Room at the Tompkins County Public Library (101 E. Green St., Ithaca, NY) for the purpose of presenting an overview of the Draft LSWMP at which time feedback shall be heard.

Pursuant to the revised Part 360 Solid Waste Regulations as promulgated by the State of New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the public has forty-five (45) days in which to review and comment on the LSWMP. The Draft LSWMP is available for download on recycletompkins.org. One print copy of the Draft LSWMP is available for public access at the Tompkins County Public Library.
